AdSense Generator in French and Chinese

by Stefan on 21 August 2009

Last month I re-launched Google AdSense Generator. A project made to show people how easy it is to create fake screenshots and why you never should trust them. The site went viral and at its peak I received 6000 – 8000 unique visitors each day. Unfortunately it ended when my host crashed.

As I wrote above I re-launched it last month with several new languages, including German and Spanish. Even though I’m far from my old peak it still gets a few hundred new visitors each day.

Today it’s time for me to add French and Chinese to Google AdSense Generator. All thanks to translations made by XDash and Alexandre Sippi.

What are you opinion on people trusting simple screenshots? Is it possible to share the word and educate everyone about how easy it is to fake?

Chill, no matter how far you are from your old peak, its within your reach. As much relentlessly I see you working towards it, you will achieve it.

Stefan… I love your Adsense Generator, and it is awesome that it went so viral. Were you able to make any money with it, or get traffic to your blog with it? I only see the small link in the footer. Just curious what benefit you are getting out of it…. except that it is REALLY COOL?

I had no blog when I released it so I decided to make money through Google AdSense. It turned out great and I made some money before Google decided I wasn’t allowed to show AdSense on it. Afterwards I started to promote affiliate network Zanox which didn’t turn out so well. Now I have a short text in the left sidebar saying “visit my blog”.

So cool !
But it this trick is useful for fake adsense product sellers.
Nice idea.

I’m aware of the fact that product sellers can use this to fake their earnings and I’ve seen people do this on forums (same px, etc) but hopefully it will educate more people since you can create a similar screenshot within seconds in Photoshop.

Haha – I have definitely seen a few of those! Well now all your readers can see how easy those are to fake, but I may still generate one to show my unsuspecting friends and relatives so they can see what a million dollar blogger I am. ;)

As long as you don’t try to make money of your friends. ;)

:D No, I really won’t do it. If I did, then people would be coming and wanting to borrow money from me for their get rich quick schemes!

Thank you Harsh for mentioning me. Found your post through Google now and left a small thank you comment. A bit upset with the copycat though who are actually using my original screenshot.

I’m glad to hear Jacob. The Chinese market seems to be really big so it would be great if I could get a foot in there.

I’m actually working on finding new methods to advertise through the site right now. I’m going to start selling directly ads and also add advertising for Hostgator.
