How to Batch Upload to Flickr

by Stefan on 1 August 2009

Earlier this week I wrote a post about how to get visitors from Flickr which most of you appreciated. Today I’m going to tell you how to speed up the process by batch uploading to Flickr using Flickr Uploadr.

Why batch upload

It may seem obvious but you will save a lot of time by simple using a free software like Flickr Uploadr. I’m currently running one of Sweden’s most popular — I think — blogs about TV shows. Just a few days ago i decided to upload images and photos for different shows to get more visitors and hopefully even some backlinks.

There are hundreds of shows and every show do have hundreds of images available, so it’s a great method to get some traffic, but it would take a lot of time if I had to use Flickrs online service to upload all of my images.

Advantages with Flickr Uploadr

Before uploading your images to Flickr you will be able to batch add titles, tags and descriptions, add your images to different sets and reorder things.

One of the best parts with the software, since I have two accounts, (omTVserier / Ducedo) is the possibility to simple change user within Flickr Uploadr without having to sign out or in using your browser. Just simple press a button and you are now using your other user.

How to get going

  1. Register on Flickr
  2. Download Flickr Uploadr
  3. Install Flickr Uploadr
  4. Sign in to Flickr using your new software
  5. Follow the instructions on your screen

Additional notes on how to get visitors from Flickr

I didn’t mention this in my previous post but this is one of the most important parts if you want to get visitors from Flickr.

I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to use descriptive headlines when you upload your images and photos to Flickr. With a title like “3423” you’ll with most certainty never get a single visitor from Google.

Will you begin using Flickr for this purpose?

I have been using Flickr from long time, and I have made a habit to upload all the screenshots which I take. Another important aspect is , add description if possible, else make sure add proper tags and category as screencast or what ever appropriate.

It’s a great idea to add screenshots to Flickr and I actually started to do it earlier today. Descriptions is also important since it will help you not only to rank better but also help the visitors. By simple adding a link to your post they will have much more value of a screenshot.
